BIG L DOCUMENTARY- STREET STRUCK

Lamont Coleman aka Big L, like many great rappers was taken before his time. L was shot and killed on February 15, 1999 on 139th St. off Lenox Ave in what he liked to call the Danger Zone. Jay-Z was set to sign him to Roc-A-Fella Records but his untimely death came just a week before the deal could be closed. The Street Struck documentary is scheduled for a February 2010 release to coincide with the 11th anniversary of his death. The film will include archived footage of L, interviews with family, friends, members of the legendary D.I.T.C crew, and more. Hip-hop fans everywhere should be excited for this to drop.

2009 MERCEDES GULLWING

One of my favorite and possibly the most beautiful car of all time is being remade and brought back into the modern age. The 2009 Mercedes Gullwing (SL 300) is going to be a thing of beauty, bringing all of the design elements from the original and matching them with all of the modern automotive technology of today. For those of you who don't know it, the Gullwing is the car with the doors that swing up that first launched in 1954.

On a side note, it is my birthday today, so for this one time, I am willing to take IOU's until this bad boy drops. Thankfully they didn't take it too far from the look of the original car, as it was already a piece of perfection. Here is an image refresher of the original:

NIKE SB DEBACLE BONUS 2

All of the Debacle clips and bonuses have been very legitimate, but I must say its pretty weak that the amount of bonus footage is as long as the entire video itself. Be sure to check them all out anyway since they do still give you the quality you would expect from Nike SB.

COMING SOON SPRING/SUMMER 2010 COLLECTION

Coming Soon's Spring/Summer 2010 collection gives a much more wearable appeal this season, rather than many of the expected extremes of designer Yohji Yamamoto. The line takes advantage of very relaxed silhouettes with looser and longer pieces included. I am especially looking forward to some of the jackets from the line.

Tim Burton at MoMA

The Tim Burton exhibition at MoMA will run from today until April 26, 2010. So if your in the NYC area, I think you know what to do. It covers all aspects of his creative work ranging from his drawings as a child to the films that he's best known for today. Even this stop-motion animation promo for the exhibit is reason enough to be intrigued. Below you can hear a few words from the man himself.

"GO GET YOUR SHINEBOX" AT THE BROOKLYNITE GALLERY

Tomorrow night marks the opening of another great exhibit to inhabit the Brooklynite Gallery. Entitled "Go Get Your Shinebox," the exhibit portrays the effect that the current economic situation is having on people around the world from an artistic standpoint. The pieces center on the street "work boxes" that are often picked up as a means to accommodate odd jobs upon reaching rock bottom. With the help of 100 international artists, the gallery takes the notion of a simple means of making money, shoeshining, and allows a redefinition of how each artist pictures his or her own "survival box." Sure to be an intriguing and thought provoking exhibit, and also the last of the year for the Brooklynite Gallery, this is one you don't want to miss.

If you can't make it, or want an idea of what to expect, be sure to check out the video:

The show opening is tomorrow, Saturday, November 21 from 7 to 10 PM at:
The Brooklynite Gallery
334 Malcolm X Blvd.
Brooklyn, NY
11233

HAFSTEINN JULIUSSON GROWING JEWELRY

Hafsteinn Juliusson is an Icelandic designer who crafted these amazing limited pieces out of silver and moss. The actual moss is real and remains green for months if proper care is taken. Juliusson created the collection for people in metropolitan areas as a way to reconnect with nature that seems to have slipped so far away.
